Spring Fever
What a difference a day makes. Yesterday I was running around North Asheville in a tank top and shorts. I would describe the 65 degree, bluebird day as “glorious”. This morning I woke up to a light dusting of snow on the ground. That is Asheville for you. Spring one day, dead of winter the next. Fortunately, I will be tucked away in my office at Asheville Realty Group.

Grove Park Inn
I stopped in front of one of my favorite places in Asheville on my run the other day. Fond memories have been made at this beautiful hotel over the years. My children have loved getting hot chocolate and admiring the Gingerbread houses during the Christmas season. My family has spent many birthday dinners at the Friday night seafood buffet. In my opinion, the spa is the best in the US. I look forward to the days where I can comfortably meet a friend for a drink and admire the view of downtown. In the meantime, I will just run by and dream.

Minimum Space Requirements
This morning I was walking a friends dog in my old neighborhood and came across the coolest thing. In front of a house on Lookout Road, there was a sculpture displayed in a glass box. Upon further inspection, it looks like you can find these mini galleries tucked away in different Asheville neighborhoods. I stopped and admired the work and then continued on also checking out a vacant lot for a buyer client. Who knew I could get so much done in a 15 minute span?

Enjoying the View
Yesterday morning I was sitting in the carpool line at my son’s school and was mesmerized by the colors in the sky. The mountains were peaking out of the low lying clouds and I reached for my phone to capture the moment. Unfortunately, what my iphone caught is not nearly as beautiful as the snapshot in my mind.
The point of this post is to feature the beauty that can be found in Asheville. Even mundane activities like carpool lines can have a spectacular backdrop. Just another reason why I am thankful to call this town my home.

Hickory Furniture Mart
If you are looking for furniture in North Carolina, it is worth the drive to the Hickory Furniture Mart. Located an hour east on I-40 from Asheville, this huge complex is a shopping mall of furnishings. Manufacturers in the area, and beyond, have showrooms full of samples and custom options you can create for your home or office. Don’t worry, if you need lighting and rugs, they have that too.
I have purchased a dining room set, leather sectional, bunk beds, dressers, and end tables over the years. If you can’t find what you are looking for, it may not exist.

Back to Work
Break time is over. The holidays are in the rear view mirror and it is time for me to charge into 2021. Back to work has many meanings for me today. Not only am I back in the office at Asheville Realty Group but I am starting Ironman training for Coeur d’Alene (June 27). Putting that out into the universe will hold me accountable on the days I feel unmotivated to swim, bike, run, show houses, cook dinner, and the list goes on.
The goals have been set both personally and professionally. It’s go time.

If you close one eye . . .
You can make out Santa Claus cruising down Merrimon Avenue in North Asheville on a tractor. Yes, you heard me right and I have photographic proof.
Thank you Santa for making my day.

Covid Safe Activity
Every December, for as long as I can remember, I have loved driving around one evening looking at the neighborhood Christmas lights. As a Realtor, looking at pretty homes is a passion so seeing them in a different “light” is mixing business with pleasure. I have passed along this tradition to my children. We bundle up, jump in the car, and sing Christmas songs as we comment on the great effort our neighbors put into their display. It sounds magical and it truly is. It’s one of the few moments that my kids don’t fight in the car or ask if we are there yet. Fortunately, this is one of the few holiday traditions untouched by Covid. It seems that in 2020, people have more time to put into bringing cheer to others through their decorations. Maybe it is just me looking for a silver lining but I must say last night did not disappoint.

Rudolph in North Asheville?
Probably not my most exciting blog but I had to share. As I was running around the Rose Garden this morning in the freezing cold, a HUGE buck was in a friends yard. This is exciting to me because I am used to seeing bears, turkeys, hawks etc but never a deer. Is this a Christmas sign? Is Rudolph scoping the area for Christmas Eve?

Closing Day
Real Estate is an amazing career. Every day is different and just when you think you have it figured out, something new and interesting comes along. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to sell a friend of a friends home. Super excited for the sellers to downsize and a new family to enjoy a special property.
